Product: The Sony appears to be the odd duckling in the media player market. I saw and purchased it at Costco for 59, and that included the HDMI cable - a great deal, considering the cable being worth about twenty bucks by itself. The media player itself is fairly big, compared to say a Roku or Apple TV. I like the very solid and heavy feel of the player and the fact it doesn t move around just because a cable is plugged into the back. When turned on it glows blue in front, which is rather cool. The remote is absolutely great - easy to use, intuitive, with a very logical layout. Sony offers an app for Android phones for the remote, which makes entering text in search really easy, and you can access the player anywhere inside the house i.e. changing songs on Pandora when stepping out of the shower.. The user interface appears to be Sony s own creation, and it resembles the one of the Xbox with vertical and horizontal menu choices. Type font on the menu choices is abysmally small, for example on Netflix, it is virtually impossible to read movie titles, let alone anything smaller than that - this is probably the most annoying shortcoming of the Sony player. Annoying is the player s need to confirm internet connection every time a program is selected, it adds unnecessary steps and takes time. Every single time. A great feature is the on-screen speed indicator on the Sony, so you will know what download speed you are getting when watching Netflix for example also great to monitor your Internet provider s claim for speed. - neither Apple or Roku offer this feature.
Setup: Setup was easy and done in minutes, the player recognized the secure WAP immediately. Configuration is extensive and a snap. I tried both WiFi and CAT6 cable.Read more

I received about 3 weeks and i ve already love it. Setup including update took 10 minutes max. I connect it to internet through cable and not a wifi since the cable was right next to it, i though it s more reliable i ve already watched many movies Amazon, Netflix Crackle and listen to different radio slacker and Pandora stations for hours and i have to tell you picture and sound is perfect and not a glitch. The only complain i have is, The Icon for movies selection in Amazon or netflx are so small, I have to go with 3-5 feet if i want to see the picture of the icons and my T.V. is 52 inch 1080p LCD screen. Remote control is very light and has a decent range and is very easy to use. You can conrol this unit with your smart phone as well. You also have 2 choices for power consumption, 1 Fast start without delay or 2 Slower start with more power savings. I ve not tried 3D feature as i don t have 3D television.
Last year i purchased Sony SMP-N100 and that was perfect too but since i m going to buy a 3D tv so i sold it and bought this one.
This Media player in perfect for the people that want something simple and yet sophisticated with excellent picture and sound quality. But i hope sony comes up with an software update to fix the size of the fond and icon.
By the way, This unit SMP-NX20 and SMP-N200 are exactly the same with exception of SMP-NX20 has HDMI cable included in the box.

Great value for money. Works well. I had to reboot it a couple of times but other than that I have not had any issues. Refurbished. So whatit works as well as a new product.

After my dog chewed up the remote to my SMP-N200 I found out that a new remote would cost me around 45. Since I have 2 TVs I decided to just spend the extra 10 to get another one - this SMP-NX20. The two units are identical except for the fact that the NX20 comes with an HDMI cable which alone was worth that extra 10 bucks as well as the standard 3 way. The same remote works on both of them, although I would have liked if I could have been able to program a universal remote rather than having to buy a second unit.
Oddly, I did find that the remote for my new TV does work for pausing and fast forwarding on it, but I can t use it to turn the unit on or off. see edit
The unit itself is small and light and easy to hook up. It turns on quickly and only takes a few moments to connect, and I use wireless with it. It only takes a one-time setup to get it working with accounts such as Hulu, Amazon and Netflix. I have very rarely maybe two or three times had any disruption in video playback with the wireless - it might pause and give me a loading screen, but it reloads in just a few seconds. Like another review mentioned, it has lost my wireless connection before, but I found that instead of having to set it up again, I just turned it off and back on and it picked it right back up.
The print on the menus much smaller than I like, it can be hard to read from across the room on a decent TV, and almost impossible on a CRT. It would have looked much nicer with bigger text and images like the PS3.
I have not gotten it to play video files from USB yet, but honestly, I didn t play with that much.Read more

This issue can affect some users of Media Go 2.5 or higher. Follow these steps to correct the issue:
Close Media Go.
Navigate to the following folder on your computer:
In Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10:
C: Users username AppData Local Sony Media Go
Delete the file in the folder that begins with FFCache.
Start Media Go.
I transferred some music and videos to my Tablet or WALKMAN device with Media Go, but I cannot see the music in the device s Music player, and I cannot see the video in the device s Video player. Media Go tells me the transfer succeeded. What happened.
The files successfully transferred to the device, but the databases for the Music player and the Video player were not updated. The solution is to disconnect the device from the computer. You will see an Updating databases status message in the bottom-right status area of the Tablet device. When you reconnect the device to your computer, the Music and Video players will be updated with the new content.
I transferred a playlist from Media Go to my phone, but it doesn t appear on the phone. Is there a solution.
This can occur with some phones that use media transfer mode MTP to connect to the computer. To fix the issue, try switching the phone to mass storage mode MSC, and transfer the playlist again. You can change the USB connection mode via the Connectivity settings on the phone. Alternatively, restarting the phone will also cause the playlist to appear.
I am having trouble installing Media Go on Windows 8. What is the problem.
Check that you are installing Media Go 2.3 or higher. You can find the latest installer here.
When I start Media Go, it won t display anything except the splash screen, or the software crashes.
Is there something I can do to fix this.
Some older versions of the Apple QuickTime Player application may cause conflicts
or instability with Media Go.
If the QuickTime application is installed on your computer, you are encouraged to
update it to the latest version. To update QuickTime Player, close Media Go, open
the QuickTime Player, and choose Update existing software from the QuickTime Player
Help menu. After the QuickTime Player update is complete, you can restart Media
Go. In many cases this will solve the Media Go startup problem.
You do not need to have the QuickTime Player application installed in order to use
Media Go.
If you need the Apple QuickTime Player application for other purposes, the latest
version can be found here.
I already have a version of Media Go installed,
but I want to update it. How can I do that.
Media Go will automatically check for updates and notify you if an update is available.
You can manually check for updates any time by clicking Help Check for Updates.
To update Media Go software on a computer that does not have internet access, download
Media Go software using a computer with internet access and transfer the downloaded file
to the other computer on a CD, flash drive, or other storage device. Once the file is
transferred to the computer, double-click the file and follow the prompts to update Media
Go software.
While installing Media Go, I get an error that begins with 1935: An error occurred during the installation of assembly Microsoft.VCxx.ATL. . . . How can I complete the installation for Media Go.
This error can occur after an unsuccessful install of prior Windows updates. Follow the instructions provided by Microsoft to correct the issue. Details can be found here.
I m no longer able to upload content to YouTube directly from Media Go. How can I do this.
As of May 2015, Media Go no longer supports the ability to upload content directly to YouTube from within the software. However, you can still upload content to Facebook from Media Go, or you can upload your content using the YouTube Web site.
